The Cannon River through Northfield is bloated. It might flood.
Compared to September 2010, it's tame. So far.
The National Weather Service issued a minor flood warning yesterday for the Cannon River, where it flows through Northfield. Footnote #1. (Also, see the DNR’s page for monitoring the river level at 2nd st. here, and the National Water Prediction Service’s monitoring page here.)
(Update Friday, June 21, 8 am. The latest prediction from the National Water Prediction Service is ominous.)
I took photos yesterday morning around 8 am of the usual areas where the high water occurs first: Carleton College soccer fields and Lyman Lakes area, the Riverwalk below the dam, and the East Cannon River Trail through both ends of Babcock Park. Click photos to enlarge:

With more heavy rain predicted in the days ahead, could the flooding rival September 23-27, 2010?
Here’s a glimpse of the high water we saw that weekend (click photos to enlarge):

Here’s a link to an album of 170 photos I took of people working and volunteering during the 4 days of the flooding, September 23-27, 2010:
