Help capture Northfield's vibrant community spirit with photos and videos
We’re seeking your photos and videos that capture scenes of fellow Northfielders in public settings and engaged in community activities
Video intro (1 minute, 40 seconds) with the option for captions in English, Spanish, and many other languages:
Do you have a smartphone or a camera and an eye for capturing memorable moments in Northfield? We need your help documenting our community's spirit with photos and videos that reflect the energy, diversity, and values that make Northfield a great place to live.
We’re seeking people interested in capturing scenes of Northfielders engaged in community activities. We will select the photos and videos that best capture the community’s spirit and feature them regularly here on Northfield.org.
It could be photos of spontaneous or momentary scenes like these (click to enlarge):
It could be videos of impromptu performances like these breakdancers:
Or like this folding chair marching brigade video:
We need people to take dozens of photos at significant community events like the 2004 Just Food Co-op Grand Opening, the 2005 Sesquicentennial Governors Ball, or the 2022 Halloween for Kids party hosted by the St. Olaf Volunteer Network (links are to photo albums on the NCO Facebook page).
Our plan is to:
Seek photo and video submissions from anyone and curate the best for publishing here each week.
Develop a team of regular contributors who we can train and rely on to take photos and videos of the more significant community events.
Partner with the Northfield Historical Society to create an archive of photos and videos for long-term preservation. Together, we think we can create a collaborative visual history of Northfield for generations to come.
Secure funding for the project.
We want Northfield.org to become the place where Northfielders know they can see their fellow citizens having fun and actively contributing in ways that strengthen the community and increase the likelihood that they’ll do the same.
Let's do this, Northfield! Let's show what living, working, and playing in Northfield means. Comment below or contact us if you're interested in being a community documentarian.
